Viscose, Modal, Cupro and Lyocell

  • Viscose, Modal, Cupro and Lyocell

Viscose, Modal, Cupro and Lyocell are fabrics that are all based on the same raw material, namely cellulose. Cellulose is a fibre found in plants and trees that provides structural strength. Cellulose fibres are also called artificial silk because they have a lovely, luxurious appearance. They also feel extremely comfortable. The qualities of cellulose-based fibres may differ per type, but they also have a number of shared characteristics. Following is a summary of the most important qualities:

    Cupro:
    • Feels like silk
    • Has a matt sheen
    • Softly flowing
    • Crease-resistant
    • Strong

    Modal:
    • Feels like silk
    • Absorbs moisture
    • Feels cool on the skin
    • Retains its shape
    • Flame-resistant

    Lyocell:
    • Feels like silk
    • Has a matt sheen
    • Absorbs moisture
    • Retains its shape
    • Produced in an environmentally responsible way

    Viscose:
    • Feels like silk
    • Has a matt sheen
    • Softly flowing
    • Creases easily

Moreover, Cupro, Modal and Lyocell are strong fibres that make a garment sturdier. That means clothing lasts longer. Sandwich likes to use these materials in combination with jersey for tops to give them a flattering, flowing shape.

    Washing

Garments made from these fibres can be washed without a problem. Washing instructions can differ for each of these fabrics, so it’s important to read the label carefully. Viscose is less strong when wet. We advise not to rub, brush, twist or wring out the clothing during washing.

    Drying/Ironing

To dry or iron garments made of Viscose, Modal, Cupro or Lyocell, carefully follow the instructions on the washing label.
